**Description **

- Understand division as grouping (repeated subtraction)
- Use vocabulary associated with multiplication and division
- Develop further their understanding of multiplication and division and the inverse relationship between them
- Understand why the commutative law applies to multiplication;
- Choose and use multiplication or division to solve problems in ‘real life’, money or measures of lengths, mass, capacity or time

**In this unit there are explanations of**

- Two different structures of real-life problems modelled by multiplication
- The contexts in which pupils will meet these multiplication structures
- The commutative law of multiplication
- The idea of a rectangular array associated with multiplication
- Three different structures of real-life problems modelled by division
