The Irish experience

More and more schools in Ireland are hearing about and switching to the Jolly Phonics programme and the synthetic phonics approach encapsulated in that programme. Unfortunately no formal research has been undertaken in Ireland as yet to ascertain the impact of the programme but the anecdotal evidence is that the positive results seen internationally are being replicated in Ireland.

To refer to just one example, St. Aidan’s Primary School, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford (one of the ten largest schools in Ireland)  have just completed their second year of using the programme. Some of their teachers are participating in the discussion forums of this online course where they will be sharing experiences and insights and ready to shed light on your questions and queries.
