Logging in to your course - (You can enrol now but Log in is not available until July 1st)

CPD College uses a learning management system called Moodle. This system is becoming widely used in education institutions all over the world.

To use the  system, you first need a user account. As part of your registration to CPD College, this account has already been created for you, and you should have your details for that. To sign into the system, CPD College uses a standard username/password authentication system. You will have your username and password at this stage. If not you can retrieve it through the login box or just call us and we will reset it for you. Please make sure you use lower case when entering the details.

As you can see in the screenshot below, there is a block on the front page at the top right corner for signing into. You can also use the login link provided beside the course you have enrolled in.

Sometimes, you will also see the main login page appear. This usually occurs if you have been away from the computer for a while. One of Moodle’s security features is that an account is automatically logged out once it has been idle for a set period of time (usually 30 mins). Should this occur, you will see the login page similar to the screen shot below.

In this case, the username and password form is shown by the red ring.

To sign in to the Moodle system, please follow the following steps:

Step 1- Type your username and password into the form on the left hand side of the page as shown. A close up of this is also provided:

Step 2 Click the Login button.

This will bring your through to the main page of the Moodle system:

Viewing Courses in Moodle

In Moodle, almost everything is organised in terms of courses. All content in Moodle is attached to a particular course.

NOTE: At this point, you will have enrolled already so you can skip the enrolment  module (i.e. JPH00 below) and move straight on to the first course module.

Each CPD course consists of five CPD course modules. For the purposes of this guide, it is assumed the user is registered on the Jolly Phonics course. To start your course  click on the title of the first module (ie JPH01 below) .
